• A Heart for Orphans - Manuel Aldana grew up in Guatemala City, Guatemala, aware of and feeling terribly sad about the many orphans who have been abandoned on the streets or put into one of the many orphanages in his country.
• Healthy Church Survey Soon Available - The Christian Reformed Church in North America hopes to soon make available a survey tool created to help churches in the denomination assess their health.
• Demonstrating Neighborly Love - Moussa, a volunteer helping with a subsidized grain sale in drought-ridden Niger, told Christian Reformed World Relief Committee staff that he was happy to be involved "because we are called to love other people regardless of who they are."
• BTGMI Launches New Website - Back to God Ministries International, which has 34 evangelistic and discipleship ministry websites, has launched its new, Christian Reformed Church agency website, BackToGod.net.
• Urban Youth Learn to "Slay Giants" - "Giants" were slain at the recent Urban Youth Convention in Muskegon, Mich. The 10th annual event, sponsored by Christian Reformed Home Missions, was themed on the story of David and Goliath.
• Conference Focuses on Young Leaders - Almost 30 young adults from all over North America were on hand Tuesday in the Grand Rapids, Mich., office of the Christian Reformed Church to participate in a conference focusing on ways young people can be successful leaders in their churches, workplaces, communities, and schools.
• 'Hope Equals' Offers Speakers - Shannon Jammal-Hollemans kept the people at Oakdale Christian Reformed Church spellbound on Sunday night as she described the recent trip she took as part of Hope Equals, a Christian Reformed World Missions program. She and 10 others visited sites in Israel and on the West Bank.
• Aileen Will Buy a Bible - Aileen Morales knew almost immediately what she would do with the check for $15 that she received from Christian Reformed World Missions during a service at her church in June.
• Coming Home to New Orleans - When the levees off New Orleans gave way to Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, half of the residents of Orleans Parish lost their homes.
• Dordt Sets Conference on Immigration - Two Calvin Theological Seminary professors will help to headline a conference at Dordt College on September 23 that will examine a tough new Arizona law that has made immigration front-page news across the nation.
