Element Education respects the privacy of parents, guardians, students, employees, employee candidates, and other members of our school community. This SMS Privacy Statement explains how information is handled when you choose to receive text messages from Element Education through Microsoft Teams.

1. Information We Collect

When you opt in to receive SMS messages, we may collect and maintain information  such as:

  • Your mobile phone number

  • Your name and/or contact information

  • Your SMS opt-in or consent information

  • The date and time of your opt-in

  • Text messages exchanged with authorized school staff

  • Information necessary to provide technical support and manage the SMS service

2. How We Use Your Information

We use this information to provide and manage:

·         School-related text communications including, but not limited to:

    • Classroom and educational updates

    • School reminders and announcements

    • Information regarding meetings or school activities

    • Communication between teachers and parents/guardians regarding school-related matters

    • Responding to requests for assistance

    • Communications with service providers, including vendors

    • Managing and supporting the Microsoft Teams Phone SMS service

  • Employment related text communications including, but not limited to:

    • Receipt of applications

    • Scheduling of interviews and follow-ups

    • Employment candidate status updates

    • Reminders

  • Business and Operations related text communications including, but not limited to:

    • Vendors

  • We do not use SMS information for advertising or unrelated commercial purposes.

3. Mobile Information and Opt-In Data

Your mobile phone number, SMS opt-in information, and SMS consent information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Information may be shared with Microsoft, telecommunications providers, and other service providers when necessary to provide, maintain, secure, or support the SMS service.

4. Privacy

Element Education expects all communications involving students, families, service providers, vendors, and employment candidates to be handled in accordance with applicable district policies and privacy requirements.

Element Education personnel are expected to use approved communication channels and to avoid including sensitive or confidential information in SMS messages when another approved, more secure method of communication is required.

5. Message Records

Text communications conducted through district-provided systems may be retained, monitored, or disclosed as required by applicable law, district policy, records-retention requirements, or legitimate administrative and legal purposes.

6. Opting Out

You may stop receiving SMS messages by replying STOP. After receiving an opt-out request, no further messages will be sent from that number unless you subsequently provide appropriate consent to resume communication.

8. Message Frequency and Charges

Message frequency varies based on Element-related communication needs and interactions with Element personnel.

Element Education may update this SMS Privacy Statement when necessary to reflect changes to the SMS program, district practices, technology, or applicable requirements. The current version will be made available at:
